ywca on a mission to eliminate racism

Join YWCA in Alton and Metro St. Louis YWCA and the Jewish Community Relations Council of St. Louis for our 21-Day Racial Equity & Social Justice Challenge. From April 22 thru May 20, 2021, participants will be prompted daily with challenges such as reading an article, listening to a podcast, reflecting on personal experiences, and more. Participation helps us discover how racial injustice and social injustice impact our community, helps us connect with one another, and helps us identify ways to dismantle racism and other forms of discrimination.

Sign up today at http://ywcastl.ywca.org/site/Calendar?id=104865&view=Detail  and follow the conversation using #ABetterWayABetterDAY and #YWCAEquityChallenge.

The challenge is designed to create dedicated time and space to build more effective social justice habits, particularly those dealing with issues of race, power, privilege, and leadership. The 21-Day Equity Challenge was created by Dr. Eddie Moore Jr. (#BlackMind) and co-developed with Debby Irving and Dr. Marguerite Penick (#DiverseSolutions). The plan has been adopted by organizations, associations, and corporations all over the world.

The three participating groups have worked to cater this challenge to the needs of all of the communities involved. Topics include the value gap, systemic racism and voting laws, the racial wealth gap, disparities in healthcare and mental wellness, and disparities in education and call to action.
