Barbara Morrissey McGrew President

Barbara Morrissey McGrew is the Owner of Morrissey Contracting Company, Inc., a local WBE/DBE painting company in Godfrey, IL.  MCC, Inc. has completed projects ranging from residential apartments, structural steel overpasses, bridges, water treatments plants, waste water treatments plants, riverboats, casinos, schools, hospitals, churches, resorts, hotels, and many other commercial buildings.

Barbara serves YWCA in many capacities including serving on the Women of Distinction Event and Board Committees and Finance Committee.  She has held numerous offices while on the Board of Directors at YWCA and played an integral role in fund raising for YWCA.

Gail Donnelly Bader Past President

Gail Donnelly Bader is a retired local attorney serving the Alton area with primarily dealings in  family law.  Gail volunteers at Lovejoy Elementary School in the Reach Out and Read program.  She serves on the Church and Society Committee for the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton.   Gail chairs the Governance, Resource Development and Advocacy Committees for YWCA.

She played a key role in coordinating the What Were You Wearing exhibit at YWCA in 2017.  The What You Were Wearing Exhibit recreates a Student-Survivor Art Installation originating from the RESPECT Program at the University of Arkansas in 2013 and inspired by the poem What I was wearing by Dr. Mary Simmerling.  The What Were You Wearing exhibit has been used during 2018 by Call For Help, Inc., and by SIUE Prevention and Advocacy Education Center.

Joelle Shearin Treasurer

Joelle Shearin is the General Manager at Penn National Gaming (Argosy Casino in Alton) and originally hails from Ohio.  Joelle chairs the Strategic Planning Committee and as Treasurer, serves as Finance Chair for YWCA of Alton.  Her accounting and finance skills have come in handy on the Board and her generosity and upbeat personality make her an excellent Board member.

Cameo Foster  Secretary

Cameo is the current City Treasurer for the City of Alton and previously served under the past City Treasurer.  Cameo fondly remembers coming to YWCA of  Alton for swimming and dance classes and joined the Board of Directors in 2017.  Cameo has an Associate in Science from Lewis and Clark Community College, a BA in Business Administration and an MBA from Fontbonne University.

Cameo plays an integral role on our Finance Committee.  Her skills, education and deep history with YWCA of Alton make her an excellent Board member.

Dr. Sonya Porter  President Elect

Dr. Sonya  Porter’s skills in Human Resources and background in education provide the YWCA of Alton with wonderful resources.  Dr. Porter has served as Principal in the Hazelwood School District and more recently as the Human Resource Director with Alton School District.

Dr. Porter chairs the Racial Justice Committee and sits on Executive Committee.  She has coordinated all recent Racial Justice Board Training and has been actively involved in expanding the YWCA of Alton Stand Against Racism to incorporate area businesses, additional schools and a greater portion of the local community.  Her commitment to ending racism and dedication to YWCA are evidenced by her active involvement in the Racial Justice and Strategic Planning committees.

Erica Bratton  Board Member

Erica Bratton joined the Board of Directors 2018 and will be actively involved as one of the 2019 Women of Distinction Event co-chairs.  Her event planning skills will be used to coordinate one of our most important events and fund raisers. Erica is on the Board of Directors for the Alton Women’s Home Association and is actively involved in the Alton Section of NCNW.  She holds the office of Vice President of Education for the local Toastmasters Club.

Georgia Bratton Board Member

Georgia Bratton is an active volunteer in the Riverbend area assisting many local causes.  Georgia is the Treasurer for Alton Section of NCNW,  and the Secretary for the Eva McDonald Women’s History Coalition.  She is a member of the Busy Fingers Sewing Circle, the Zonta Club of Alton-Wood River,  and serves on the Board for the Oasis Women’s Center.  Georgia serves on the Programs and Governance Committee for YWCA of Alton.

Georgia Bratton is truly a YWCA of Alton treasurer having served on the Board for many years in different offices.  Georgia’s commitment to her extended family and to the Riverbend region are truly inspirational to all of us at YWCA of Alton.

Lisa Brown  Board Member

Lisa Brown is the Manager of Affordable Housing and Development for the City of Alton Housing Authority.  In addition, Lisa is actively involved with the Alton Section of NCNW, Alton Black Alumni, Alton Area NAACP and numerous other local organizations.  Lisa is actively involved with YWCA of Alton Get Out The Vote Initiatives and is a member of the Executive Committee.

Ashlynn Green Board Member

Ashlynn Green, one of our youngest Board members, currently attends Alton High School and joined the Board of Directors in 2017.  Ashlynn is an accomplished student athlete at Alton High School.  She is a member of the Racial Justice Committee and most recently coordinated the Alton School District Stand Against Racism activities for 2018.  Under Ashlynn’s direction, area schools participated in the Stand including Alton High School.  The Stand Against Racism activities at Alton High School included a Stand Against Racism, a Mix It Up Lunch Day, and the completion of the “When I Grow Up I Want to Stand Against Racism” board.

Kennedi Koetzle Board Member

Kennedi Koetzle currently attends Marquette Catholic High School and is another of our youngest Board members.  Kennedi is very active at Marquette in athletics and is strong academically as well.  She balances her high school activities with her Board of Director role.  She helped organize the Race Against Racism in 2018 held in May.  Kennedi solicited donations from local businesses, requested donated equipment for the race, recruited volunteers and designed the t-shirt race logos.

Julie Schranck   Board Member

Julie Schranck is an active volunteer in the Riverbend Community and mother of 9 children.  When she is not helping out with her children’s athletic and other activities, she is volunteering at Memorial Hospital at the Reception Desk or working with the White Cross Auxiliary for Memorial Hospital.

Julie has served on numerous committees at YWCA but especially loves being involved in the Women of Distinction Event Committee.
